As a faculty member, Dr. Rios has been involved in teaching the next generation of doctors who train in the Rio Grande Valley. The Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC), which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of making lives better in South Texas and the Lower Rio Grande Valley, is comprised of over 200 community physicians that are actively engaged in the education of medical students and residents. Physicians who practice across the Rio Grande Valley serve as part-time and volunteer faculty members of the RAHC, a campus of the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. RAHC’s faculty members have assisted in the training of over 1000 medical students who have completed rotations in South Texas campus since 2002. Faculty members are selected based on their medical specialties, expertise, years of experience, professional achievements and their willingness to teach.
